The El Presidente originated in Havana, Cuba and was popular from the 1920s through the 1940s. The cocktail was named in honor of Cuban President Gerardo Machado and quickly became the preferred drink of the Cuban upper class.
Steamships would leave ports in American cities, bound for Havana, and as soon as they entered international waters, teams of stewards would circulate through the ship, bearing cocktails for the passengers.
Created in Venice, Italy. Dedicated to a beautiful venezuelan woman.

Very good! Think of it like a Caribbean Manhattan or Martini. Strong, perfect to end the night on a hot summer day. I used Appleton Estate VX Rum for mine.
